They still hold the record for most WNBA championships by team despite having not existed since 2008. It's been a freaking joke that the Comets weren't around anymore. Their original teams were legendary with Sherryl Swoopes and Kim Perot. I'm legit stoked. Fuck yeah! #Basketball
I think my favorite of the Comet's 4 titles was their third. They were the two-time defending champion, lead by their star point guard Kim Perrot, the heart and soul of the team. Kim Perrot died midway through the season of lung and brain cancer. The Comets had been struggling that season, and Perrots death galvanized the team. They went on a tear afterwards and won their third title in her honor. She became the first person in the #WNBA to have her jersey retired. What a phenomenal team.
