#The100DayProject day 27
I have nearly completed my yoga mat bag. I just need to add a tube for a drawstring at the top. The top section is a little bit stiff because I sewed a jean jacket pocket into it. Other than that, I'm quite happy with the construction and the format, made with the legs from 2 used pairs of jeans.

Ohhh, that looks lovely!
@ThunderHoney
Thanks! I think that it will be perfectly functional, and the Japanese cotton on the top is the only "new" fabric that I purchased (7 years ago). Otherwise, it's completely repurposed.
I love that! I am about to turn the last of my stash (a few fat quarters) into bias binding. But then I need new fabric! I am going to check out the fabric recycler here.
@ThunderHoney
Yay! Fabric recyclers are awesome. We also have a massive sale of estate fabrics and deadstock that happens in a month, supporting the Stephen Lewis Foundation: African grandmothers raising grandchildren who were orphaned by AIDS. A lot of my current fabric was purchased there, including the mint green on the yoga bag. My stockpile has allowed me to experiment with new patterns and fabrics to gain confidence.

@EllenInEdmonton
It's really amazing. From where did you learn such an incredible skill?
@nuwagaba2
Thanks! I bought the jeans from a fabric recycling shop, and I made a denim duffel bag from a kit that they sold. As you make one thing, you get skills and ideas for the next thing that you make.
@EllenInEdmonton
These are some of the important skills I need to learn. Can I share with you about my project?
@nuwagaba2
A sewing project? Okay, but I'm not very skilled or experienced.
@EllenInEdmonton
It's about fighting hunger in my community, I work with 12 young volunteer farmers to make this a reality by growing food for the needy, educate local farmers with advanced agricultural skills to help them improve on their production as well equip beginner farmers with required tools like seeds , fertilisers and organic pestcides to help them produce the best out of their gardens as well combat climate change through tree planting. Would you like some updates about it?
