New science toy: the LabCam Ultra. An iPhone adapter for a microscope but with built-in high quality optics. Every commercial microscope camera I’ve used takes terrible pictures, has the worst software, and costs thousands. This blows those out of the water and allows use of iPhone’s built in camera settings.
@kayla does it pass infrared light? I’ve been doing some stuff with 1050nm and proper IR transparent microscope objectives are very expensive.
@synack Good question, I’m not sure. It’s a small company that makes these, so you could probably reach out to them for more info on what their optics are made of and whether they are IR transparent. My guess is no? I think silica glass is not IR transparent, but I don’t know what materials their optics use. IR spectrometers usually use Ge. https://www.ilabcam.com
