And this is what should concern every woman and every person who loves & cares about girls & women. That all people identifying as girls & women could be called to prove their “femaleness”. From a young age I have pushed against narrow definitions of “femininity”.

Why it is anyone else’s business to know or care about another’s sex or gender outside of intimate relationships is beyond me. And obviously, for some people it’s not even an issue within intimate relationships.

I get that some female athletes might feel worried that a trans athlete might possibly have an advantage, and I don’t know who to believe about whether that is a real possibility, but statistically it seems hugely insignificant.

The real anxiety is clearly being experienced by transphobes, for no real reason whatsoever.

Human rights experts raise concerns over Olympics transgender women athlete ban

Over 100 human rights, sports and scientific groups have criticised the new gender eligibility guidelines as ‘a blunt and discriminatory response’

The Guardian

@Susan60 The IOC commissioned a study that reported in 2024 that a blanket ban would be unjustified and there was no clear biological advantage for trans women.

Now they claim a working group has found evidence to the contrary, but the evidence is being kept secret. Why would they hide their evidence? I hope this is challenged in court because I think there is very likely no evidence, probably just a few cherry-picked studies confirming the conclusion they wanted.

Sport is full of physical diversity. As a left handed person, I have a very significant advantage in a sport like boxing. Left-handed boxers are overrepresented in the professional rankings. Of course no-one is going to ban lefties - only diversity related to women, sex and gender is policed.

@SecondUniverse

As a taller than usual woman, I can relate.
