Is it really because #startrek90210 its woke as f&^k or is it because its just so cringe?
The show was super diverse yet someone they all acted like spoiled American teenagers.
I have not seen good writing on that franchise since the first two seasons of discovery.. and Im a big time #StarTrek fan. It descended into goof and could not come back..
Too much "Trouble with Tribbles" and not enough "Miri".
@sleepy62 @georgetakei the fact you're calling it startrek90210 shows your hand that you might have gone into it with preconceptions you weren't willing to let go of.
I went into academy expecting it to be meh, and was pleasantly suprised. Not a perfect season of trek, but one of the better ones, especially when you meet the show where it is and for what it is and the demographic it was trying to capture
Ya but thats the thing, it was diverse and not diverse at the same time. That behaviour and attitude was so cliche American. It just did not travel well.
They should have written the characters as though they actually came from distant worlds. Heck a contemporary university campus is more diverse.
I actually wanted to to like it and was really looking forward to it, but in the end was so disappointed....
@sleepy62 @georgetakei trek has always been written through an american lens. From Abraham Lincoln floating in space, to space 911 on Enterprise.
It has never stopped those of us who are not from there embracing it and appreciating its message.
Yes yes I know. But this is next level. At their core those kids were all the same.....IMO
Oh Man that show was epic must watch...so sad they cancelled it.
They have shenaned again. :(
