wow. the recent CBC Indigenous investigative journalism story about the RCMP spying on Indigenous organizations and individuals in the 1970s required a four-year battle to get access to the pertinent records. good on them for persevering

i wonder what my students will learn in fifty years about how the federal, provincial, and municipal police forces spy on Indigenous organizations and individuals in the current era. sadly i think there will be significant commonalities.
