A favorite band from Europe is coming to NYC, and tickets are cheap, even for the meet-n-greet option.

...getting to and staying near NYC, is the exact opposite of cheap. Even on Hotwire. Yikes. Now I know why I haven't been in nearly a decade. (I have also looked at hotels directly, as sometimes they offer deals when going around the aggregators, but most certainly seeming to not be the case here.)

However, I suppose I should be allowed to treat myself once in a while.
