It is absurd that in California, the most solidly Democratic state in the union, the "jungle primary" might literally exclude all the Democratic candidates from the general election.

Every state should have closed primaries and ranked choice voting, so all the parties---including minor parties---have a fair chance to nominate the candidate that represents them.

But let's take a step back. The is no law that the Democratic Party, or any party, has to pick their candidate this way. How they pick their candidate is entirely up to them.

Completely agree. Parties should have primaries in a matter and on a schedule that makes sense for their own members. Regardless of, for example, what the Iowa legislature might want.
