Good news! Suburban #PDX park no longer named after genocidal loser.

Better news: Locals get drums, plantings, and fried bread at the 3/28 renaming ceremony! https://www.portland.gov/parks/events/2026/3/28/scht-wiwnu-park-naming-ceremony

WTF news: Is this a Rez Dogs prank or "Star Wars" character or...

@glassdelusion

Wonderful news. Good name.

"Way of the Huckleberry"

Also, why when assigning spelling to a language that was not transcribed to english before is it "spelled" unpronounceably so that it must be followed by a different transcribing to teach how the unfamiliarly pronounced words are said?

@kevinrns @glassdelusion Because the spelling is not just for English speakers?

It’s an opportunity to lean into Indigenous language and an example for young Indigenous kids (and others) to see the written language in use.

P.S. Keep Portland weird (and inclusive of a variety of human expression).

@helianthropy @glassdelusion

Of course. Thanks.

Because its a transcription for all other written languages, not just english.

Each of which require a different audio transcription as well.

A simple big oversight of mine.

Thanks again.
