Tipping and Tip Inflation

Tipping: back in the 1960’s small town/small city Midwest, a 10% tip for good service was considered usual and customary. 15% was added automatically as a tip in some really big cities, very fancy restaurants or for large parties of people but those were exceptions not the rule. Tipping was very much a reward for good wait service, you did not tip someone for putting a sandwich together for you like at a Subway or fast food joint.
