Samsung 37" S80UD monitor does not display BIOS - Lemmy.ca

I’m writing this in case someone finds it useful now or in the future. I recently bought one of these Samsung ViewFinity monitors. Hooked it up via DisplayPort to my computer and discovered that it shows black screen during my motherboard’s BIOS / POST screens. I tried a few suggestions from what I found online and this is what worked: - Turn on PIP while there’s active signal to the monitor and make the DisplayPort source show in the PIP (smaller) screen. That makes the DisplayPort source use 1080p which appears to be alright with the BIOS. - Use a bidirectional USB-C to DisplayPort cable and connect the GPU’s DisplayPort to the USB-C port of the monitor. This method is easier because it does not require any special setup afterwards and it functions correctly every time. According to some complaints around the web this might be an issue with other Samsung monitors too. I haven’t tried these solutions on any of them.
