@bstacey can you imagine what it's going to be like in 20 or 30 years for the kids being raised in the group houses and potluck circuits of the scenes these people have built?
@bstacey yeah, fair. there's just something about this parallel cultural universe they're building... i can't look at it without thinking of the people i've known who came from holdover 60s communes and such, but if their parents had been into hypercapitalism and scientific racism instead of struggling farms and pacifism.

though i note that the trick of "a big list of popular blogs and stuff with our attendees scattered throughout" is, well, kind of a cheap-feeling play for association.
@bstacey I like how the home page features this long list of names, and then you have to read the fine print to realize that it's just a list of writers the organizers like and only about a quarter of them have actually committed to be at the conference
