does anyone in the pacific northwest want an Atari 800? i have one and am ill-equipped to properly care for it. mostly works. comes with the Atari 410 program recorder (broken, but i have a brand new replacement motor), several program cassettes, two joysticks, a few game cartridges, and a couple paper manuals with minor water and mold damage but still readable and scannable. the whole thing was left in a shed for 40 years, and after some cleaning and reseating it's doing remarkably well. might be some ram/graphics issue tho? not sure and don't care quite enough to test.

dm me and I will drive it to your doorstep for free
@mir stop tempting me with free stuff i don't have the ability to take care of /lh

@mir Included in the drop-off is a quick evaluation of the new parents ability to care for and nurture the old Atari.

@mir I'm too far away, but for anyone thinking about this, the 800 was their top 8-bit machine. I could go on, but it's well worth the trouble to get it working. Search the net for "De Re Atari"; that has all the internals (and schematics, IIRC?) well-documented.

One last thing: The Atari version of "Frogger" was *far* better than the arcade version. It was a work of genius, and only the Atari was good enough to run it.

@mir Don't throw these gems of engineering. Good luck with finding a new owner
@mir wow that's a good offer!
@evin i want to not have it anymore and im heading down that way anw
@mir is this still something you need to offload?
@mir if you are still looking for a recipient, I'd love to be it's new owner.
