A few rumors have said the next MacBook Pro might have built-in 5G, which would be delightful – I'd love to have it in my bag, open up Claude on my phone while waiting in line for something, and say "write this new unit test" and have it quietly wake my Mac and just start work. Real "only Apple can do this" stuff.
(Then again, I also wish Apple would look at how many folks jumped to the terminal for coding, acquihire iTerm2 or Ghostty, and do something awesome there too, so I'm not entirely sure how seriously they are taking AI-powered development.)

@twostraws Terminal.app saw the first real improvement in macOS 26 in many years but it’s still significantly behind competitors. Primarily because they don’t support the extended standards needed for cmd+enter handling separate from regular enter.

Also, they still have some issues with complex layout

@twostraws If you have your iPhone with you then your Mac can tether anyway for this. But yes I very much hoped the recent MacBooks would have had this as I really wanted it for other reasons. I needed to get a MacBook though so just went for the Pro M5 and will have to live with tethering until I next have a reason to change. Plus I am avoiding as much Apple purchases as possible these days so probably not for at least 5 years.
