I'm guessing:

- The M5 Mac Mini hasn't shipped yet because the Texas factory isn't ready yet

- Tons of people bought them in the last two months to run AI agents, and Apple's manufacturing estimates weren't prepared for the spike

- The highest-RAM configurations are even more squeezed by memory shortages

(Although the M5 MBP can be ordered with max RAM with an estimate of April 8–15. But that's probably different RAM, and in a product that Apple makes in greater and more predictable volume.)

@marcoarment Worth noting that high RAM Mac Studios are also on backorder until at least May, some as long as "4-5 months" 😮

@pbg @marcoarment yeah and been getting progressively worse by the day due to the artificial scarcity of RAM. I wanted to get a Studio but I refuse to join a queue and tbh fuck macOS and Apple chips and Apple.

@prsn it’s definitely artificial. You think everyone, especially corporations, would be rushing to buy all the GPUs and RAM if there weren’t a legion of bullshit artists promoting AI? I suppose you think it’s just natural that so many normies now think they’re software engineers, scientists, doctors, because a language model told them how brilliant they are 🤣🖕
