Just nabbed a pair of 100% cotton jeans from circa the millennium, not only just my size, but *the exact size up plus the tailoring I would have done to them* by someone far more skilled than I am, for $4 USD. #Secondhand really feels like the only way to go.

We've made enough stuff, we just need to get it into the hands that need it, and doing that is helpfully also much cheaper for the end user than strip-mining the earth for new-manufactured landfill fodder. We need exactly this sort of circular economy that passes things along until the materials need to be repurposed.

Virtually all of my clothes have been used for most of my adult life. I occasionally buy stuff like Tshirts that have something on them I like, or things like work gloves, but otherwise, everything's used.

It's a win-win. I save a ton of money, and extra crap wasn't generated for me to use.

@lxskllr I came to it fairly late but was really lucky in that I came of age/ adult figure when things were mostly still pretty well made, didn't change size much, preferred classic stuff, then I took care of them and didn't worry about trends, so I didn't really have to turn over my non-work wardrobe until covid had hit. Everything started getting holes around the same time and so I started looking around online: it is AMAZING how much people have and don't want anymore. The one big downside of all that time not shopping is I don't really know the period reputation of what brands to look for quality-wise, I have to hope people upload decent photos.

One pair of good leather boots + essentially all thrifted outerwear these days.
