#HomeEducation

Been a slowish week so far but today we apply for my daughters Open University 30 wk course Arts and Languages Access Module, to start in October. Then once this is completed she will start a music degree, again with the OU.

We've skipped GCSE exams which some may frown upon because 'every kid needs to do them' but that's not actually the case. There is no legal obligation for her to sit GCSE exams, and she can do them at any age in the future should she wish to.

I am confident she has a good understanding of the subjects as she did them online from home over the last 2 years however she then discovered a passion and talent for music and that's where her muse is leading her.

You cant do self led learning without supporting them to self lead their learning right 😜

@JaxVent

That sounds like you are doing a fabulous job facilitating your child's education!
I home educated my kids for quite some time too (they're now adults and live away from home).

@PetraPhoenix

Thank you 😊

It's been quite a journey to find the right way and took at least 18 months for her to 'unschool' and get away from harmful thought patterns eg pressure to get everything right. So proud of how she's doing now ☺️

@JaxVent

It sounds like she has a great environment to discover her path!

Some kids know straight away. My Eldest knew from the age of 5 what they wanted to be - a musician - and now they are, whereas Youngest is still working it out, but volunteers with scouts which is what he seems to really love doing.
