Besides the point, his framing of what Alejandra actually says in the screenshot is pretty misleading. The "suicides and ruined lives" line is specifically referring to women who end up failing the DNA test after not knowing they had an intersex condition.

It's not hyperbole, either. There was an Indian swimmer named Pratima Gaonkar. Born a girl. Raised a girl. She trained her whole life, competed, etc. And then she failed a "sex verification test," and ended up killing herself. indianexpress.com/article/spor...

The rising star who ended her ...
I get that what that dude in his screenshot post to Twitter is trying to do is to frame this as trans women being over the top or whatever, but in the screenshot, she's very clearly talking about the effect that this policy could have on people who are not trans.
And yeah, it'll absolutely "ruin lives" for a cisgender woman (again, born female, raised as a girl, blah blah etc., the whole deal) who has been training since she was basically a toddler to compete in the Olympics to suddenly find out she's not considered a woman as the result of a DNA test.
Think about how jarring it would be to learn that. To get to the level of something like the Olympics and suddenly not only are you banned, but your whole identity is thrown into question? You suddenly have people referring to you as a "biological male" and a "man" and whatnot?
Anyway, it's all really unfortunate that all the media coverage of this story and the new IOC policy is being described in terms of banning trans athletes. It completely overshadows that there a number of women (who are not trans) who are going to be banned from competing as a total surprise.
I mean, hell, just look at the 2024 Olympics! Imane Khelif was born a girl, raised as a girl, assumed she was just like any other girl. Then suddenly, she's the target of a hate campaign and now might be banned from ever competing in sports again. Have some empathy.
Anyway, since I assume he'll see this thread: please don't screenshot my posts to share on Twitter. I am not attacking you. I'm not doing "activism." And I even asked someone to please delete a comment that was mean about you. I simply disagreed with the framing of Alejandra's posts.
@parkermolloy.com Born a girl, raised a girl, discriminated against for being a girl, denied opportunities for being a girl, told she couldn't play the sport she loved (or many others) because she was just a lowly girl... then banned from even second class competition for not being girly enough.
