I would have been po'ed if I had picked up the phone to a named virtual healthcare assistant. It is not a real person. They should stop impersonating one. Using human names, voices, and personalities for these AI automated systems should be illegal. It's fraud, imo.

Anyway AI... Read the drug script. This is a medication that is "PRN" which means as needed. I'm not filling medications that I don't need so your company can charge Medicare for medications. #AI #HealthCare #Medication #Prescription #Drugs

@paul I was reading an article about how harmful faked humans can be: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2026/mar/26/ai-chatbot-users-lives-wrecked-by-delusion

I was trying to straighten out a problem with Adobe a couple of months ago and they've essentially farmed out all of their customer support to AI. Which means that I didn't get my problem straightened out.

Marriage over, €100,000 down the drain: the AI users whose lives were wrecked by delusion

One minute, Dennis Biesma was playing with a chatbot; the next, he was convinced his sentient friend would make him a fortune. He’s just one of many people who lost control after an AI encounter

@isotope239 I've severed some long term relationships that have switched over to AI interactions as main contact. Several more to go.

I am getting my ducks lined up to replace my primary care that venture capital purchased because it is now impossible to call the office and speak to a human about anything. All phones reroute to their AI call center.

Even their nurse hotline are "AI medical assistants"

My primary gave me his personal cell because he is so invested in my care, esp with me having a rare illness. He is leaving the practice soon.

I already have a doctor that I contracted with last year out-of-pocket that oversees all my care, including prescribing medications, in a run-up to this and only kept this practice because they visit my home. There are other, smaller, mom and pop practices that do the same care in the home now that Congress has passed, and it is signed into law, more primary care in the home.

I've just been with them for so long but it isn't the same practice now.

@paul It's all so disheartening. For so many things, certainly medical, but all sorts of things, AI data scraping as a substitute for knowledge and nuance just will not do.
