Okay french followers what essential french sentences should I know?
@nicole4fox "Macron démission!"
@SharpLimefox what does it mean
@nicole4fox literally "Macron resignation" (as in resigning from a job) but more like "Macron, resign now!"

@nicole4fox when someone says "quoi ?" (what?) you say "feur"

"go fuck yourself" is "va te faire foutre"
"I don't give a fuck" is "je m'en bat les couilles"

@lykrast amazing this thread turned out exactly as i expected. Tysm
@nicole4fox "shut up" is "ta gueule"
"lol" is "mdr" but lol is also widely used in french
"lmao" is "ptdr" but just like above lmao works (but less than lol)
"bravo les lesbiennes" (lit "congrats to the lesbians") is also a very good sentence
@nicole4fox I don‘t speak French, but I‘ve heard many situations in life can be accurately commented with „merde“ /lh

@nicole4fox

“C’est ne pas ce que vous avez, c’est ce que vous faites avec.”

It ain’t what you got, it’s what you do with it.

The quintessential French sentence defying the permeable rule that you shouldn’t end a sentence with a preposition.

@nicole4fox je ne parle pais francais

« pain au chocolat »
@yukijoou @nicole4fox It hurts, but at least there's chocolate :3
(it knows it is basically <dough product with chocolate>)

@Eryel @nicole4fox
A word: "Merde!"
Better learning a language through the historical expressions.

(Joke aside, that's a complicated question, I don't really have a reply...)

@nicole4fox instead of 'meme' we say 'L'image humoristique qu'on partage sur les réseaux sociaux'
@tfthwt I understand enough words to make out the meaning. Amazing.
@nicole4fox Depois que j'ai quitte' l' ecole, je ne parle plus francais .. and .. Nous esperons vous avoir rendu service et nous vous prions d' agreer, nos salutations les meilleures. .. some of the few sentences I remember 😂 5 years I had to study it, used it only 6 months, forgot almost everything of it ! 😐
@nicole4fox "eh bah putain..." means "oh well" as in a reaction of surprise mixed with a sigh of lassitude
@nicole4fox
maybe not an sentence, but something you'll probably encounter is "verlan", the art of saying words apmroximately in reverse, as a synonym.
it's mostly found in... "street french", for a lack of a better term.
for instance "meuf" (gal) being the verlan for "femme" (woman)
and yes, "verlan" itself is verlan for "à l'envers" (in reverse).
@niacdoial thats peak nieche knowledge, amazing!

@nicole4fox
I'm boring so:

- "Bonjour" (bɔ̃.ʒuʁ, bon-joor, "Hello") and its evening variant "Bonsoir" (bɔ̃.swaʁ, bon-swar)
- "Au revoir" (o ʁə.vwaʁ, oh re-vwar, "Goodbye")
- "Merci" (ˈmɛrsi, mer-see,Thank you)
- "S'il vous plaît" (s‿il vu plɛ, seel vuh play, "Please")

And hopefully you won't need it, but:
- "À l'aide" (a l‿ɛd, ah layd, "Help!")
