That new Emerson College poll of the Maine Senate race is out and as stomach-churning as it may be, it’s ugly: Platner is up 2:1 over Mills. The good news, such as it is, is that both of them are up over Collins. emersoncollegepolling.com/maine-2026-p...

I have to say, while I agree that there’s a good chance Platner would be “another Fetterman” situation, neither that nor the tattoo itself are the main reason I find him so offensive. It’s the pure White DudeBro privilege of it all. 1/
Even if he HAS grown into a decent person…why the fuck does that entitle him to becoming a U.S. fucking Senator out of the gate? He was still calling people “f@gg@ts” & “r@t@rds” as recently as 5 years ago (or later). Has Trump/MAGA really dragged DEMOCRATS standards THAT low as well?
“I used to be an asshole but I’m not anymore, no really” shouldn’t be all it takes to qualify someone to become one of the few hundred most powerful people in the country for (at least) the next 6 years.
Anyway, this seems to have devolved into a “Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown” situation. (Sigh) Donate to @[email protected] here: secure.actblue.com/donate/senat...

Chip in!
I'll also note that the real danger is that if he wins the nomination--whether he wins OR loses in November--every GOP candidate w/the slightest connection to Nazism/white nationalism (ie, most of them) will have a #WhatAbout "Get Out of Electability Jail Free" card to play for the next 2-3 cycles.
