One thing I love about Resident Evil: Requiem is that in my YouTube browsings I have so far seen only a handful of videos where Grace is modded into a sexier outfit... and about three billion videos where Leon Kennedy has been modded to remove his shirt.

Nature is healing. The balance is being redressed.

Like, I'm actually all for sexy characters in visual narrative media. My problem has been that historically only the women are sexualised, and even then only a very specific TYPE of female character is allowed to be sexy, to cater to a generic straight white male gaze, and this is boring and misogynistic.

Redress the balance. What do lesbians find sexy? Gay men? Straight women? Queers of an ambiguous nature? If you're going to have hot characters, I want to see a full fucking RAINBOW of hot characters, thank you.

Listen, Baldur's Gate 3 was great, but one of the most popular mods for Halsin gives him more body hair and a tummy, and I think game developers could LEARN from that.

Also, everyone knows that the best kind of hot female character is one that queer men find iconic. Genuinely, if you are designing a sexy lady, run her past some queer men, and if they call her mother, you did good.

anyway this has been Bisexual Viewpoints by me, a bisexual. other bisexuals may differ. 🤷

@astronomerritt

And what even is the straight white male gaze? Sure there are tropes which are deemed sexy at a particular point in time according to popular culture but clearly straight white men don't all lust after the same woman or even the same 'type' of woman.

@OneInterestingFact This is absolutely a great point. There will always be straight men who prefer women who don't fit whatever beauty norm is currently dominant. But the nature of marketing is to hit that common denominator and to appeal to the widest amount of the target demographic, and this is how you get boring uninspired female characters and it's how you get boring uninspired media.
@astronomerritt @OneInterestingFact As shown in Mercury, Freddy et at, 1978; and confirmed by Mix a Lot, Sir et al, 1992.

@astronomerritt I love this. It's not the early 2000s, we can do better than scantily clad and jiggly.

Have y'all *seen* Nicole Coenen?

@dave You know what, I hadn't, and now I'm really glad I have. 😆

@astronomerritt > Redress the balance. What do lesbians find sexy? Gay men? Straight women?

Right-wing conservatives?

@Andres4NY ...what did I just watch? who the hell thought the world needed a sexy M&M?
@astronomerritt @Andres4NY Tucker Carlson famously had a meltdown when they changed the green m&m from wearing sexy boots to wearing normal shoes
@redsad @astronomerritt Yeah, that's what I was referencing. I was just going to post a picture of the green m&m, but then I happened upon that gif and couldn't resist posting it. 😀
@redsad

OK, way down the rabbit hole, you CAN'T make this shit up any more.
Glad i'm not a professional satirist - i'd starve.

@Andres4NY @astronomerritt
@Andres4NY @astronomerritt feelings they can't deny,
when the green m&m is giving them that eye

@astronomerritt In this case, the balance is being undressed!

(sorry, the pun compelled me)
