Just got this from Microslop GitHub:

> We're updating how GitHub uses data to improve AI-powered coding tools. From April 24 onward, your interactions with GitHub Copilot—including inputs, outputs, code snippets, and associated context—may be used to train and enhance AI models unless you opt out.

I barely ever use GitHub. When I do, it's when I am forced to because some project I rely on only uses GitHub.

If your project is only using GitHub, please consider migrating.

@rysiek I hate the network effect with GitHub so much. It can sometimes be really hard to contact maintainers outside of it.

When I finally find a mail (often gmail for bonus centralization points, but that's another issue), they almost always end up saying something along the lines of "you should have opened an issue on GitHub"

GitHub has shadow banned (I'm pretty sure) my account and other accounts I created after realizing. I could open an issue, and I'd be the only one who can see it.

Is it because of geoblocking? Tracking JavaScript that I won't allow? This platform is just so hostile and I'm so sick and tired of dealing with it.

Right now, I managed to get a "working" GitHub account, but how long will it last?

Considering how generous Codeberg is to open source projects, or that almost anyone can just set up a Forgejo/GitLab instance, I'm really starting to wonder why some won't move away from GitHub after complaining so much about features, slowness, AI, etc.
