I'm going to have to close my @tindie store. I get occasional orders to the US but atm it just takes ages to find the new tariff stuff the mail service needs and I have to pay the trumpian tarrifs this end... I have no option to increase prices just for US customers... and it's all just a bit naff. For the few UK sales I have I might just go ebay as it incurs no fees... or perhaps I need to launch a UK open source hardware market... Put my tindie shop on vacation mode for a month... #ponders
@concretedog @tindie do you only sell to the USA on Tindie? If not you could exclude USA in the shipping settings (that's what I do with the EU since GPSR).
@burtyb @tindie I could, but the largest proportion of my stuff (which is not massive) goes to the states. But I'd have to add the tarrif costs to the shipping... or as you say turn off that shipping option... but then I just get loads of "request to ship to" emails!
@burtyb @tindie The EU is also a faff as you say.
@concretedog @tindie That's sad to read, but not completely surprising. I'm still baffled why Tindie can't allow for tax to be charged based on the destination country.
@concretedog @tindie Considering the uniqueness of the UK market WRT tax position, etc, I'm a little surprised we don't have one, even if it's just serving the inter-maker market.
@kianryan strkes me that whilst I am not technically the person to build this... I could be useful in terms of getting something going and visible... might start a few convos... nobody hold their breath though!

@concretedog

Have been pondering too about setting up my own store instead of using the @tindie store: no new functionality for years, no price diversification, no VAT support, no discovery. My impression is that the platform is slowly dying.

@concretedog have you looked into lectronz? I only know it from the consumer side (where their big benefit over tindie is that they handle EU VAT) though
@HeNeArXn I haven't but I see that it's cool. A lot of people added their stock there. It seems like its more for EU based people slightly but I should check it out.
