Overview The City of Alamosa is a city in and the county seat of Alamosa County, Colorado, home to Adams State University within the San Luis Valley, a cold desert with access to groundwater and the Rio Grande located nearby, however limited. The San Luis Valley is also considered a depositional basin in most cases. Within the valley, the City of Alamosa serves as the commercial center, positioned directly along Routes 160 and 285.
