What if you could play real-world wind farms in Turbine Tycoon?

This is exactly what I've been looking at in my latest experiments.

I thought it would be fun to let you pick various real wind farms around Great Britain (maybe even the world) and then let you loose to see how well you can manage them.

Can you keep up with the maintenance requirements?

What are you going to do when there's an issue with the export cable?

How would you expand the wind farm to increase capacity?

Can you keep it profitable?

What would happen if you upgraded the wind farm by re-powering the turbines?

What about when the sea is rough and your engineers are too sick to fix things? (genuinely something stupid I'm playing with)

Plus a whole bunch more…

I've started with Gwynt-y-Mor as it's one of my local offshore wind farms. The layout is particularly recognisable for me and it's been loads of fun seeing it appear in the isometric world of the game.

Do you have a particular wind farm you'd want to play?

And what other features would you like to see in the game?

@robhawkes
That’s a great idea.
Curious: is there something similar in the hydrocarbons extraction world, as much as it might provide a baseline comparison (but not suggesting you create that).
@robhawkes Some simplified pros and cons for different sites - higher potential payout, but limited weather windows for build and maintenance vs less wind but sheltered seas?
Either way, I'm interested to see how this works out!
@robhawkes
What do you do when the grid operator wants you to switch off because there's too much wind power?
How do you juggle maintenance vs weather days

@robhawkes
Also i would love to play the game!

Seagreen would be my starter

@robhawkes Inch Cape and Seagreen would be interesting to play. Comparing what goes on with the B4 boundary might be "fun".
