Kafka in the "The Metamorphosis" never specified exactly what kind of bug the lead character transformed into. The ambiguity was purposeful, the popular conception it was a cockroach is unfounded. He even gave instructions to book illustrators that "the insect itself is not to be drawn. It is not even to be seen from a distance"
i don't know why this illustration made me think of that, but i suppose it's because this is as valid an interpretation of "The Metamorphosis" as any other
