It took me a moment to get it. At first I thought this was a reference to captain Kirk saying Sora died like a red shirt. The I was like oh yeah there was that forgettable man named Kirk that die.

I also heard it as metaphor for a blowjob, kirked- shot in the neck- getting neck

this one’s a little more rare but it’s kind of like how “trumped up” has evolved from meaning “fraudulent” (e.g. “trumped up allegations”) to also include “botched via arrogance and/or incompetence” (e.g. “Donnie really trumped up that hundred year alliance with one lazy tweet”)
