@adrianthorne @medieval_illuminations It's ok – no one actually expects anyone to have read and remembered them all, except those who think that there are only the few in the bible. I remember once quipping something about the Gospel of Thomas and one of them loudly proclaimed, in one of the most authoritative voices I've ever heard, "There are four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John."

A nearby senior theology professor audibly gasped, and then said, in a voice warm and kind, "There are four *canonical* gospels; there are many, many more."
