I was let to believe that pirates had a code. If there was any honor among pirates they would clearly mark their rips as "this is some AI-upscaled camrip bullshit with crypto-casino watermarks that you shouldn't bother downloading".

What a world.

@jwz I doubt the Scene Standards have been updated in a while, but that'd be an instant nuke in the Old Days.
@jwz that’s legitimately enough to get a release group tagged with a score of like -9999 so nobody’s automations pick them up, assuming these assholes aren’t naming their files to spoof another release group
@jwz if its any consolation, the window between new torrents being ai garbage and the new media they pull from not yet being ai garbage is gonna be like a couple years tops so in big picture terms the fraction of media lost by only using magnets from pre 2025-ish is not too bad
@jwz Perhaps it was a pirated pirate created by the federation as a decoy?
@jwz

Maybe it's not pirates but privateers, aka pirates in it for capitalist gains
@jwz Ah yes, AI upscaling - another hyped application of this technology that turns out to be absolute worthless shite in the real world...
@jwz
Looking for anime on Internet Archive is one hell of a trip.
- crudely compressed, hardsubbed and watermarked sludge pulled from pirate streaming sites
- full-blown DVD ISOs
- 20 GB (or larger) rips of chewed-up fansub tapes
