I'm especially glad of this given the Verge's earlier record with transphobic jokes vis a vis the fediverse. As I've said repeatedly, I think highly of the Verge and those jokes felt out of character for them.

This is proactively good, and I'm glad they're saying the right thing about the new transphobic wizard show.

My ideal case would still be that Nilay Patel apologize for using The Verge as a platform to make transphobic jokes, as I think it was careless more than hateful.

In the absence of that? While I don't think that the good erases the bad, nor that the bad erases the good, I do think this proactive good with respect to describing the Harry Potter show for what it is goes a long way towards building good faith even if it's not an apology. And that's quite something in 2026.
