"The old internet was messy. Half-broken. Full of ugly forums, strange little blogs, abandoned tutorials, and personal sites that looked like they had been built at 2 a.m. by someone running on caffeine and obsession."

I Think a Lot of Developers Are Quietly Grieving the Old Internet

I think a lot of developers are carrying a kind of grief right now, but rarely naming it. Not...

DEV Community
@shawnhooper I know I grieve the loss of the old Internet, daily. But, it's still there, harder to find amongst all the search engine ads, Amazon results, SEO and AI friendly slop; human content exists like a needle in a giant pot of gruel. Don't eat the gruel.
@josephdickson I know it's there... I've been getting back into RSS feeds again, I still blog. But it still feels, at least in tech, that you're missing out if you're not on the big socials. I like seeing people keeping the old tech alive.
@josephdickson @shawnhooper Just to bring an quick and unsolicited recommendation: https://wiby.me is an absolute treasure trove regarding the old web - also perfectly useable with #dillo or other rather simple browsers!
Wiby - Search Engine for the Classic Web

Wiby is a search engine for older style pages, lightweight and based on a subject of interest. Building a web more reminiscent of the early internet.
