Living Through Dark Times

Times are dark. There’s war (I’d call it a stupid war, but all wars are stupid, this one just happens to be more idiotic than most), and a horrible economy. There’s all sorts of horribleness going on around the world. It is very hard to watch or read the news and not be super depressed about everything. Now the rest of this post is going to sound really trite, but we’re all in this together and there are still happy and good things happening in the world.

I BEG YOUR PARDON, what did I ever do to you?!? /j 😂

I feel like I'm mourning so many things at once, I can't even keep track of it all.

  • The death of the American dream
  • The death of the prosperity of the American working class
  • The approaching death of American democracy
  • The death of my optimism and lack of cynicism concerning the role of religion in this country, and the supposed good done by churches
  • The death of so many friendships and relationships as I woke up one day to realize they were mostly red-hatter "moral zombies"
  • The death of my own career
  • The death of I.T. as a respectable profession
  • The death of my own aspirations
  • The death of two dearly loved family members
  • Oh yeah, and my two favorite countries are at war, now, for some stupid reason.

Ugggh, I need to come up for air, man. :/

It feel like above all, we need to ensure that we do not let hope itself die. But that takes faith. I don't know what else it could be. Not necessarily religious faith, but something firm in the midst of the shaking.
