Arson damages three churches, one UCC, in Washington - United Church of Christ
A string of fires has caused millions of dollars in damage to a trio of churches in the Pacific Northwest, and fire investigators in Vancouver, Wash., believe that a serial arsonist targeted the three buildings and set them ablaze. First Congregational United Church of Christ was the first hit and sustained the most damage, with losses estimated at $2 million.
Church vandalism / attacks are pretty common - a few months later in WA there was a string of attacks on Jehovah’s Witness churches (3 arson, 1 gun) that made the national rounds, www.theolympian.com/news/…/article294233499.html and afaik in that case the specific suspected motivations were never made public until the arrest either. There’s a ton all over the country if you google around, people burn the things down all the time and for all kinds of reasons.
