I take issue with this. I know people of college age, and this is a stereotype.
There are plenty of college age people who watch TV shows, and even Star Trek, either in addition to or instead of "going out on the town".

Also, the idea that "all trek shows have a bad first season" is a myth.

That said, I still think that we shouldn't just cancel a show if the first season doesn't go well.
Though, I don't think season 1 of SA *was* bad (with the caveat I haven't finished the season).
