Could be. We have a lot of those around here, and I see them a lot.

On the other hand, this bird seemed larger to me. This photo of the Northern Flicker from All About Birds seems similar to mine.

@donray The wings make me think hard about Flicker...

The head seems to have red on top with white below the red. Male Flicker only has a red patch on the back of its head, nape area🤔

I think I have seen that bird before over there by the pond. I might try a stealth approach the next time.
