@Techmeme I just read the email. It says you can opt out, which is better than having no choice at all and speculating whether your input is used for training or not. I think this is a good thing.

Hey look, they took my entire life's work and stuck it in the plagiarism blender, but they asked first in a place I didn't notice amid the spam they send me.

Edit: not to mention even opting in would be bad, because you would be opting in for code you didn't write if more than one person worked on the code base.
