Iām swamped with work again. I really must learn to say no.
My father gave the following advice when I was a young 'un:
Divide work into 3 piles:
1. It'll be done.
2. It might be done.
3. It will never be done.
My own approach, if overloaded, has always been to say to management:
"I can do all of this, but not all at the same time. You tell me in what order you want it done; else, I'll pick at random."
If in doubt whether they'll listen, do that via e-mail and keep a copy. That way, the can't say they weren't put on notice.
Good luck ā and don't run yourself into the ground with overwork. I did, once. Never again.
