When I was in Grade 7 (13yrs old), I tried to check out Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities from the school library.
A very stupid teacher (I still remember his name) informed me that it wasn't allowed. It was too much for me. (At the time I was reading Dickens' entire ouvre for my own fun)
Tried logic with him, it's available to me at the public library. No go.
I wasn't used to being told I was too stupid for any book.

I was pissed off, but being as well-behaved as an outraged 13 yr old can be.
Told my parents that evening.
Next morning they told me to go ahead and check out A Tale of Two Cities from the school library.
(Yes, I've always read, a lot. Book fiend. Bookish. Whatever. That's not the point here.)
Don't be telling people what they can and cannot read.
Book banning is stupid.
Stupid people ban books because they're stupid people.
