Public health isn't some privilege that successful societies get to enjoy when every other condition is met, it is the foundational condition that must be met before any society can be successful
We use public health metaphors to assess the 'health' of a society. We talk about the 'rot' at its core. When not overtly genocidal, the racism that capitalism weaponizes to establish who deserves generational wealth is weaponized foremost through social murder: by ensuring that certain conditions continue to exist for certain demographics that will chip away at their health and hasten their demise

The term "social murder" was first introduced by Friedrich Engels in his 1845 work The Condition of the Working-Class in England with regard to the English city of Manchester in the Victorian era. Engels used the term after describing how societal conditions such as poverty, poor housing, and dangerous working conditions have resulted in avoidable excess mortality among the working class.
