When most folks think of libraries, they think of books. For me, NCSU's Hill Library was a roof over my head when I was homeless dropout. It took me half a decade to get back into school, and 11 years total to finish my 4-year Comp Sci degree 😂 But I learned more the second time through college -- including the fun work the Libraries team does beyond providing a safe space for students! One of those was called the Student Leadership Initiative, an oral history project on some of the current events of the time. For this year's NCSU Day of Giving, 26 years after being a random homeless kid staying in D.H. Hill overnight, I'm endowing a new fund to support acquiring, curating, and sharing records of students' experiences.
