Ugh. Today is recertification day for the program that gives me primary medical care and nursing home level care in my home. It is the first full-post DOGE, Big Beautiful Scam, and post-Ohio GOP tinkering with the programs recertification. Curious to see how this goes...

2/ Looks like nothing has been affected yet. I was approved for another year of nursing home care at home.

This program has been a good program and has kept me out of the hospital or even institutionalized.

Looks like they have a new part of the program for safety. They are going to send someone out to service our furnace and check for overloaded outlets and resolve any issue there, like install extra outlets and circuits.

To my surprise, a new part of the program includes consumer directed needs. I will be reimbursed a total of $2500 per year for out of pocket items as long as it is related to my health or safety and not covered . Like the feeding tube supplies I buy out of pocket because Medicare doesn't supply enough, new smoke alarms when the old ones meet end-of-life or batteries, medical or accessibility items not covered by insurance.

@paul glad to hear. My wife had a former job of helping keep people with developmental disabilities in their homes. I know from her work how important it is for people with any disability to be as independent as they can be.
@stinerman Case managers, esp good ones, are a gift. I am glad I have a good one now. It is very important. My health alone is better. I'm 54, and although my wife would keep me at home as long as she could, I couldn't imagine being warehoused in a nursing home, esp young for the rest of my life.
