It’s that time of the year where I give thanks for the wonderful hosting at @reclaimhosting. During this extended period away from actually writing Reclaim is like having a secure, affordable storage container for digital stuff you’re keeping that you’re not sure what to do with.
But this year I’m really now thinking about what it means that @reclaimhosting even exists. I just read @jimgroom’s thoughts:

Jim’s brilliant linking of the suit and the stack (really, read this — you don’t need to understand or even care about the technicalities of hosting, this is about the money and the culture of all the things we’re going through) has got to me:
“Disruption, baby. All day, every day. Even as far back as Prohibition-era Milwaukee. The more I think about it, the less any of it feels like disruption and the more it seems like something else. I’m sure every field has these moments where everything suddenly needs to be rebranded: new language, new posture, new aesthetic. You’re not a hosting company anymore, you’re a platform. You’re not running servers, you’re delivering solutions. You’re not behind the curve, you’re “AI-ready.”
And everyone at this conference is trying to sell me a better suit.”
