@VeroniqueB99 I know people younger than I am who got bullied for having German last names because that supposedly made them nazis. I turned 30 less than six months ago. V-E day was almost 81 years ago. So this person got bullied for allegedly being a nazi in school when roughly 60 years had passed.

I had a teacher in 2008, when 63 years had passed since then, suddenly get extremely uncomfortable about me disliking that my history class that year wasn't going to teach me anything passed the end of the Great Depression and I was asking for books on World War 2 from the library and mentioned disliking that all they were saying in previous classes is that this Hitler guy was a real dick. I had to be told the significance of that teacher having a very German last name and he was only partially relieved when I explained most of my family would be in camps in that happened today, so I wanted to understand why we were such a threat to him.

This is why I left the States, why I'm nervous every time I have to admit I'm American here even though allegedly no one here cares, because even if I die of old age, I will be dead in the ground before America recovers from this, and I'm only 30.
