it is not uncommon for me when heading out to do an errand, and time allows for it, to walk an extra block out of my way for the chance to see the chicken.
the chicken is not always visible inside the coop it has, and I hadn't seen it for the whole winter. I've been seeing this chicken for 4-5 years which makes it a pretty senior chicken.
so it was with some relief I saw it again for the first time in a long time this weekend, I think I can assume the owner keeps it inside (maybe in a garage?) for winter which presumably has help it live as long as it has.
Chickens are not forever, so appreciate them while you can.
