ch00fI’ve seen a few people of color working for this ICE regime here and there. Not sure why they think it’s going to protect them. They are just an email away from being next and those white dude’s they work alongside will have no qualms about throwing them in a detention center.

Asians, especially Chinese/Japanese/Korean people, have an interesting standing in many places outside of asia. They still experience a tonne of racism, but for some reason they don’t get nearly the violent hate that other people of colour get.
Racism will say that Black people are criminals, latinos are lazy, and Middle Easteners are terrorists but most of what asian people seem to get are comments about weird food, good grades, and racist caricatures. They’re treated as this white-adjacent group. It won’t save them, but it does sorta explain why that kid is there.
Now, the black and hispanic people who are part of ICE can get absolute rat-fucked a million ways to Sunday because they’re there for the love of the game at that point. Everyone in ICE is a bare-minimum terrible but holy shit, the fuck do they think they’re doing?
Asian American and Pacific Islander hate crimes have sadly been on the rise since Covid, although I think in the last few years it’s flattened out a little bit, but Asians are definitely not immune to violent hate crimes anymore.
nor that hate crimes against asians are taken seriously, its almost laughed off because of stereotypes and the news stop reporting it all together… if a black, white girl, or a semetic person from israel they would be blasted on national news all the time.

Seriously some folks HATE Asians, usually a cultural leftover from the 1800s, WW2, Korea, and Vietnam in my areas case but still. Only guess as to why that is is because as you noted stereotypes and the fact that it’s not as historically routed across the US as say anti-black, anti-hispanic, anti-Irish, or antisemitism.
theres also interesting thing amongst asians, they love to be around / want to be white because they represent wealth and power, thats why salivate over people like musk, trump, etc. at least for china they use white people as thier “advertising face” for thier companies to make them look more legitimate. if you look alot of amazon products they can be traced back to china, but its all western whites in the advertisements, never chinese, or other pocs.
thats why alot of them lean conservatives, hard right.
I am Vietnamese and the Vietnamese diaspora also are conservatives that hate communism so they are far right of the spectrum.

i think DHS intentionally was using POC in most ice raids, or have them rtag along to redirect public wrath to the “race traitors” instead of the whites who are ordering it.
