The moment is dire. French food safety agency is urging the French to eat less bread. LESS BREAD?! No more baguette.

The big farms have been using fertilizer that has a lot of cadmium in it. It’s in all the French wheat. It’s a known carcinogen. The French need to seriously cut down on bread, pasta, cereal etc.

Population's cadmium overexposure requires urgent action, French food agency tells government

In a report published on Wednesday, France's National Agency for Food Safety recommends drastically reducing levels of this carcinogenic metal in phosphate fertilizers and limiting the consumption of cereals, bread and pasta.

@psoul given the choice of eating cadmium or cutting down on bread, I'm eating the cadmium.

@dragonfrog I was talking to my friends in Europe and they were telling me that you literally have to make choices like that with the drinking water.
Either you drink the water from the tap that is full of nitrates (because of agricultural waste) or you buy the bottled one that is full of PFAS and microplastics…

If you’re old and don’t fear cancer, be happy, eat the cadmium. (And plz go protest so that the government forces big farms to switch to cadmium free fertilizers)
