All these politicians who are like "these poor people who have to spend all of their salary on energy are suffering because the Strait of Hormuz has been closed!" are fuckfaces.

*Within the confines of their IDEOLOGY*, the poor "must" suffer when "energy prices soar", because having food, shelter, and heat is considered a *privilege*.

What they're actually complaining about is that if fossil fuels cost more, global capitalists won't be able to squeeze the poor without killing them.

But...

...what frightens them is the idea that they might have to just short-circuit the whole system and give away the energy so their people don't storm their houses and string them up.

Why is that scary?

Because if they can make energy free for a month, they can make it free permanently, and people know that.

Joe Biden, for example, had free healthcare and no evictions and a small UBI and guaranteed time off from COVID, but knew if he didn't scuttle it quickly USians would get used to it.

Here's the kicker: he got rid of them as soon as he could manufacture a narrative that COVID was "over", even though it was obvious to even *his* consultants that he'd take a massive hit politically because of how incredibly popular the programs were (80%+)

Then, the oligarchs cooked up "inflation" - with the media and politicians playing interference - by colluding to jack up prices, which served two purposes: 1) they made a lot of money, and 2) they could say "look what your benefits did!"

Americans, the simpletons of the Western World, buy this shit despite *every other modern nation having better benefits than those*, because we've all been pilled by 40 years of neofascist propaganda coming from both the political and the militant wings of the only political ideology that's allowed to exist.
