I've been using SwiftKey since mid-to-lay 2012 (SwiftKey 3 at the time). Against my better judgement, I kept using it after it was acquired by Micro$oft in 2016.

In 2022 they announced they were ending support for iOS, which didn't affect me, but showed how much they were intending to stick their grubby hands in it.

They sent an email the (US) morning of March 25, 2025 announcing they were going to be taking away the ability to back to up Google Drive or iCloud with only option being OneDrive.

I have a couple of keyboards installed from F-Droid, but I've never switched because I've been using SwiftKey literally the entire time I've had "smart" phones (starting with a Galaxy S3 back in 2012).

This isn't just one more app I'll have to find a replacement for, it's been a major part of how I've experienced the mobile platform this entire time.

I cannot wait for the @jolla J2 to ship. I'm so fed up with the enshittification of everything.

@jbowen which features are you using? I've been impressed by AnySoftKeyboard gesture swiping and prediction recently.

@mjr Really just the prediction of sloppy typing. I'll give AnySoftKeyboard a look

@mjr Ok, I'm typing this on AnySoftKeyboard. I'm very curious to see what customizations are available.

@jbowen I find sloppy typing predictions are OK if I start the word correctly but not great if I get an early vowel wrong. I miss having a palette of pre-saved paste phrases, but I've not asked @anysoftkeyboard yet, so there might be a customisation for it.
