So, hey. Following me is a privilege. I choose not to block you based on my belief that your following me will respect my consent and otherwise not be a net negative in my life.

If I know that you are feeding my work directly slop vendors trying to scab labor rights and destroy art, I will block you.

So yes, I am blocking Laurie. I don't normally announce that kind of thing, but this is an exceptional enough case that I want to be clear about why.

And look, I get it. Blocking won't prevent slop vendors from bypassing blocks or otherwise scrape my feed. But *fuck* if I'm going to make it easier for you to undermine my artistic work.

As always, please don't harass Laurie. While I do encourage you to listen to his advice and block him, leave it there. He's already indicated he doesn't want more replies on this, piling on is just wrong.
@xgranade Your sub post wasn't loading so I went to investigate why. I blocked the entire instance in 2023 with the message "Laurie wants to suck up all data" so I guess they're consistent. Probably a good decision.
@xgranade thanks for the warning!
@xgranade Jesus, what an ass. Thanks for the heads-up.
@xgranade I snarked at him and he blocked me. I spite-blocked his husband, too. Just in case. #petty
@theorangetheme I mean, that's fair on his part... he's made his own position clear, and told the rest of us what to do about it.
@xgranade Oh, absolutely. I welcome it. The less I have to interact with white dudes from California who have a tenuous grasp of consent, the better.
@xgranade @dalias Thanks for the warning about this
@xgranade sadly, doing the same. looking at that mutual-following list on the way to the block is a really sad reminder that this is ripping the community apart
@glyph @xgranade this is one of the things depressing me these days.
@emma @xgranade (I am also blocking the entire instance, as it appears to be a very slop-positive community.)
